Awards and Recognition

The County holds 2 Awards events each year, usually mid-September, on the same day. Youth Awards are held in the afternoon, and Adult Awards in the evening.

The Youth Awards event is where our young members who have earned their Gold section award are celebrated with one member of their family. We don’t present Gold awards at this event since that happens with the unit. This event is a County acknowledgement of that achievement. Other awards for our young members can also be presented or acknowledged at this event too, e.g. Hero Certificates, the Louise Botting Award.

The Adult Awards event is for adult volunteers and supporters nominated to receive awards by their peers. These include Heroes, County Thanks Stars, National Thanks badges, Long Service, Good Service and the County award for exceptional service (the County ‘Bee’) are all presented at this event. Other Girlguiding awards may also be presented here.

Applications for these events should be made via the forms linked below. Youth award applications should only be completed by unit leaders once the Gold has been awarded.  Any adult can nominate any other adult for an award.  Applications are open between September and July each year, and invitations are sent out in August with a deadline for replies. Due to annual numbers, the deadline for the Youth events is final.
